Use and care for your bookmark

A bookmark should hold your place without becoming the story. Choose a format that suits the page weight, binding and way you carry your books.

Metal, clip and hook styles

Place hardware gently and avoid forcing it onto thick stacks of pages. Close the book slowly and check that raised details are not pressing into paper.

Ribbon and textile styles

Lay ribbons flat, smooth them gently and keep them away from ink, cosmetics, liquids and rough fasteners that may stain or snag fibers.

Corner and magnetic styles

Use corner markers on a small page section without stretching the paper. Keep magnetic bookmarks away from magnetic-stripe cards and sensitive devices.

Cleaning and storage

Keep dry. Wipe hard surfaces with a soft dry cloth and store flat or hanging freely. Do not soak, machine wash, bleach, bend sharply or expose to prolonged sunlight.

Safety

Bookmarks are not toys. Keep small or pointed components away from babies, children and pets, and discontinue use if damaged.
